Hi! I’m Janne, a 28-year-old Master of Economics and Business Administration living in Kalasatama and running for Helsinki City Council. I’ve lived and studied in Tampere, but I’ve made Helsinki my home after finishing my university studies and graduating from Tampere University. Thanks to the years in the university I have a strong background in working and volunteering in various student organizations and non-governmental organizations. I’ve always had a passion to work with our common matters and towards our common goals, and therefore I decided to join the ranks of The National Coalition Party and to run for the town council.
I strongly believe that freedom, responsibility and open market economy form a solid basis for a society, in which each and every one of us has the opportunity to reach for their dreams and succeed in what we’re doing. I also want to create politics based on cooperation and discussion, not on populism.
I studied accounting as my major at the university and I’m currently working in a global accounting firm as an Audit Senior.
FLOURISHING BUSINESSES ARE THE BASIS OF WELL-BEING
Succeeding companies and entrepreneurs create and increase well-being in our society. Helsinki has the potential to be the best capital city in Europe to offer entrepreneurs and organisations opportunities to succeed and grow their businesses - and play a significant role in the well-being of citizens. Each factory, small neighbourhood café and public company headquarters has their place in Helsinki and they play a key role in developing our home town. We need to offer businesses support by removing the hurdles that entrepreneurs currently face. I also want to support the cooperation between businesses and universities, and make sure Helsinki is attractive for international talent.
LET'S BUILD MORE AND HIGHER
Helsinki grows, which is good. Thousands of people move to Helsinki every year. In Helsinki, there will be more demand for housing and higher costs for living, and the imbalance of the housing market is not solved only by social benefits. We need to react to this growing demand by speeding up the construction and being more flexible in land use planning. I want Helsinki to build and create neighbourhoods that take citizens’ needs into account - without forgetting the unique characteristics of each neighbourhood.
EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY
Each and every one of us should have the possibility and equal opportunity to fulfill their dreams and express themselves - and this is where the city of Helsinki plays a great role. We should support our citizens by offering them opportunities for education and learning and by providing easily accessible health care services. By focusing on creating these equal opportunities we make sure that every one of us can take care of their health and well-being, fulfill their dreams and create our own kind of unique life. By doing that, we also take care of our safety, economy and the well-being of our society as a whole.
